Set in the competitive environment of collegiate rugby, enveloped in debauchery and self-discovery, Dani is the badass captain of the Devils, a ‘bad news bears’ team that always wins the party, even if they don’t win the match. A tough competitor on the pitch, Dani is even better at evading her own inner demons when she’s off the field. Under the leadership of an eccentric new coach, the Devils suddenly have a chance to go to the Nationals. But as pressures mount, some truths become harder to deny. Mary’s parents take the family on a journey of commitment as they search for the Truth by converting wholeheartedly to a series of different religious belief systems. They are Baptists, then Seventh Day Adventists, then explore to “Jews for Jesus” before converting to Judaism. By the time she enters adolescence, Mary has been thrust from Christian school to being home schooled, into public school, and is beginning to wonder if her parents’ quest has actually equipped her with any of the tools she needs to be relevant in the real world. Fortunately, a sense of humor proves helpful.
